Many People Wonder What The Benefits Of Facial Surgery Are

Benefits that will be received from an eyelid lift are plentiful. These include a more energetic, rested, youthful appearance that reveals a smooth, firm contour to your eyes. The benefits that the patient will feel emotionally are equally important. Because of the improvement in the appearance of their eyes, plastic surgery patients often express feeling more youthful, alert, and energetic.

What Can A Lower Blepharoplasty Fix?

Blepharoplasty, or eyelid lift surgery, is a plastic surgery procedure. The procedure is designed to remove extra tissues, skin, and fat. These three things all contribute to puffiness and bags in both lower eyelids and upper eyelids. The cosmetic surgery procedure specifically treats loose and sagging skin, bags under the eyes, extra skin that hangs down, fine wrinkles, and droopiness of the lower eyelids.

Almost Immediately, People Will Notice Your Eyes

The eyes of a person are one of the first things that others will notice about them. Regarded as one of the most important features on one's face, the eyes are capable of helping people to connect and communicate with others. Unfortunately, due to signs of aging and hereditary factors, eyes may be unable to communicate as effectively as we mature. If your lower or upper eyelids have drooping, puffy, or extra skin that makes you appear tired or sad, cosmetic eyelid surgery may be right for you.

Each Patient Has An Individualized Brow Lift Procedure

As it is with any cosmetic procedure, a browlift is individualized and based on several things. This will include things such as bone structure, skin quality, and muscle tone. A plastic surgeon will take all of the factors in to consideration before he or she makes a determination. The doctor will determine the appropriate surgery or combination of techniques that will be able to establish a face that looks more youthful and alert.

You May Have A Browlift And Eyelid Lift Surgery Performed At The Same Time

The best facial rejuvenation results will occur when a patients' eyebrows are elevated to a natural level. This makes many patients choose to have more than one plastic surgery procedure performed at the same time. These surgeries that are performed at the same time to optimize this natural look are an eyelid lift and a brow lift. Optimal results will be achieved by this.

Over a person's lifespan, they will likely feel that their eyebrows begin to appear droopy. This causes them to look angry, sad, or sometimes even depressed. This droopiness or sagging usually happens in conjunction with other facial aging signs. A browlift is able to tighten loose skin and remove extra wrinkles on the forehead as well as correct drooping eyelids.

Choosing a Plastic Surgeon - Los Angeles, California

Dad always used to walk right past the express lane at the grocery store. Beverly Hills plastic surgery When asked about it, he'd say, "Would you rather wait for twelve people with one thing or one person with twelve?" Supposedly, there was a lesson in there about not allowing a gimmick to cloud one's vision of the big picture. A corollary might reasonably be drawn from there that certain things, if not delivered satisfactorily, will never be worth being chosen based on price.

Dr. Francis Palmer, a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, makes a similar point regarding the selection of a cosmetic surgeon. Whether you seek breast augmentation, liposuction, a tummy tuck, a face lift, or whatever; it's just better to get it right the first time. Don't be afraid to ask pointed questions, get a bead on a doctor's aesthetic sensibilities, or get a second opinion if you're not sure he is up to the job. After you've found the right surgeon, one can do the job right, you can then focus on lesser matters.

Cosmetic Surgeons Perform Rhytidectomy Surgery For Many Reasons

A rhytidectomy procedure will be incapable of stopping this process, but it is capable of "turning back the hands of time." A face lift (technically called a rhytidectomy) was created to reduce many of the heavy folds and wrinkles of a person's neck and face. The surgery will also make the contour of a person's jaw and necklines more aesthetic. However, a rhytidectomy will not be able to completely removed every fold, wrinkle, and line. The amount of improvement that can be made around the eyes and with fine lines of the facial skin is limited. A face lift alone will not be able to improve "smoker's" lines around the mouth, acne scars, or poor complexion. There are other options available to treat these various problems including chemical peels, laser treatment, and dermabrasion.

Performed By A Plastic Surgeon, A Facelift Procedure Turns Back the Hands of Time

A face lift is capable of improving the most visible signs of aging by sculpting and tightening the deeper foundation and structures of the face and neck. When a person ages, the effects of smoking, gravity, sun exposure, heredity, the stresses of daily lift, and weight fluctuations of daily life begin to show themselves in their face. A face lift procedure can bring back youth to an individual's face. In a person's youth, their face is firm and smooth due to proper positioning of normal facial fat and good skin elasticity. When a person ages, skin elasticity and muscle tone will weaken and facial fat will descend and cause prominent skin folds and deep creases between the nose and the corner of the mouth. The jowls of a person become more prominent along with fat deposits and loose skin forming in the neck.

Cosmetic Surgeons Often Choose To Perform An Excess Skin Removal After The New Position Is Established From A Browlift Procedure

A browlift will set a person's eyebrows to a higher level and will stretch out the skin of the upper eyelids. A lot of the times, none of the skin will need to be removed, but if it does, many plastic surgeons choose to trim it later after the new brow position has been established. This is done so that the two procedures will not work against one another and eye closure will not become an issue. With your eyebrow higher set, you will stop wrinkling your brow since there will no longer be a need for conscious elevation.

You May Think You Need Cosmetic Eyelid Lift Surgery When You Really Need A Browlift

Many people will go into a plastic surgeon's office and request a blepharoplasty to correct an excessive amount of skin that they have in their upper eyelids. Often the problem will actually lie within their brow and a forehead lift is the answer. For these patients, the brow itself has fallen which has resulted in a "bunching" of skin in the upper eyelid area. With an aggressive removal of skin during an eyelid lift, typically the brow will be pulled further down which will just make the issue even worse and can sometimes create a tired or weary appearance.

A Cosmetic Surgeon May Choose To Create An External Incision For Your Lower Eyelid Surgery

When excess skin and wrinkles are present around the lower eyelid, the cosmetic surgeon may choose to use and external incision approach. With this approach, the incision will be made just beneath the lower eyelashes. This will be easily hidden during the process of healing. Through this incision made on the lower eyelid, excess fat, muscle, and skin may be removed. The incision would then be closed with sutures that would be removed about a week after the procedure. Bruising and swelling are a little more common with lower blepharoplasty, however the problems will usually resolve within one week. Within one to two weeks, regular activities may be resumed.

Lower Eyelid Surgery Is For Patients With Prominent Fat Bags Of The Lower Eyelids

When a cosmetic surgeon performs a lower blepharoplasty, patients are offered a gentle intravenous sedation from their anesthetist. This surgery is capable, however, of being comfortably performed with only the use of a local anesthetic. For any patient who has fat bags under their lower eyelids that are prominent and only have a small amount of excess skin or muscle, the blepharoplasty can be performed with no external sutures. Instead, the plastic surgeon can place an incision on the inner side of the lower eyelid and any extra fat can be carefully removed. No sutures are required for this approach, and patients will be asked to use a topical eye drop for a week after to aid them in their healing process.

Celebrity Lift Offers Quicker Recovery - Beverly Hills, California

Medical science strides forward daily, and the improvements to procedures and outcomes continue to amaze. Just when you get used to the idea that your facial skin Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon and muscles can be tightened for a more youthful appearance, they find a way to cut down the recovery time for your facelift. According to Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, Doctor Francis Palmer, "when the proper facial aesthetics are followed, the incisions [and] the tissue dissection can be limited which in turn means there will be smaller scars, less bruising and swelling and a shorter recovery time. This is the idea behind the creation of our 'Celebrity Lift™' that can make you look 10 years younger in less than 90 minutes with a recovery time that’s measured in hours, not weeks." The key, says Dr. Palmer, "is addressing the central portion of the face, the cheeks. The nasolabial folds are reduced and the cheeks are properly shaped using cheek implants or fillers like Radiesse or Perlane."

Certainly this should appeal to socialites, celebrities, business persons; really, to anyone who wants to look younger and doesn't have the luxury of spending a month or two out of sight while recovering. An added benefit Dr. Palmer points out is that, given reduced tissue dissection, "smokers and those with a long history of smoking may still be a candidate for this powerful, yet minimal incision facelift and necklift."

Your Cosmetic Surgeon Will Make Sure That Your Facelift Procedure Is Individualized For You

A face lift procedure is very individualized. During your consultation with your cosmetic surgeon, he or she will evaluate your face. This will include the underlying bone and skin. Your doctor will then discuss with you your goals for the surgery. He or she will then review your medical history and check you for any conditions that could possibly cause problems during or after the procedure. Some of these conditions are the tendency to form excessive scars, blood clotting problems, and uncontrolled high blood pressure. You must be sure to inform your surgeon of all the vitamins, herbs, and medications that you are taking. If you smoke, your plastic surgeon will counsel you on the increased risks that are associated with smoking on healing and he or she will need to wait at least two months after you have stopped smoking to perform the procedure.

A Plastic Surgeon Can Reverse The Effects Of Gravity On Your Face With Facelift Surgery

A face lift, technically called a rhytidectomy, is a cosmetic surgery procedure that is capable of "setting the clock back" on your face and neck. As any person ages, the exposure to the sun, the effects of gravity, and the stresses of daily life can be seen within their face. Deep creases form between the nose and mouth, the jawline grows jowly and slack, and folds and fat deposits appear around the neck. A rhytidectomy is able to improve the most visible signs of aging successfully by re-draping the skin of your face and neck, removing excess fat, and tightening the underlying muscles.

You Can Improve Your Sun-Damaged Skin With Laser Treatments

Currently, there are many lasers used for facial and skin rejuvenation and to treat sun damage and photo-aging of the skin. One older laser system, the carbon dioxide laser, has been very effective for treating sun damaged skin but has fallen out of favor. This is because it routinely caused extensive rawness of the skin that typically required over 2 weeks of “hiding out” or “downtime” to recover. In addition to the time it took to heal, it frequently caused skin discoloration and occasionally scarring. Many lasers available today require very little downtime and yield some improvement of the skin but are not nearly as effective as the carbon dioxide laser. As with any procedure, anyone considering laser skin treatments should first consult with a plastic surgeon prior to under going their chosen procedure.

When Performing A Forehead Lift, Plastic Surgeons Use The Lastest Surgery Techniques

Cosmetic surgeons use the latest in surgery techniques when they perform their Los Angeles browlift and forehead lift procedures. Brow-lifting procedures can elevate and reposition brows that have become tired and droopy, and can improve the wrinkles between the eyes and the forehead. According to Los Angeles plastic surgeon, Dr. Hoefflin, using the revolutionary advances of endoscopy, several small incisions are placed in inconspicuous locations behind the hairline, thus avoiding any visible facial incisions. During the surgery, the muscles on the forehead above the eyes will be elevated to smooth out excessive lines and raise the eyebrows to a more pleasing level which will create a more balanced and youthful appearance.

Thoughts on Santa Monica Nose Surgery

Plastic surgery connects readily in the mind with breast augmentation and face lift surgery. Even nose surgery may quickly spring to the rhinoplasty nose reshaping pictureimagination, but often when I think of plastic surgery, the motivation behind it is always cosmetic. I was reading the web site of Santa Monica nose surgery Doctor Steven Teitelbaum, and was reminded that there is more to the nose than meets the eye. Certainly, there are cosmetic reasons to change the nose; it may be disproportionately large for the face it occupies, it may have a hump, or a bulbous tip or oddly shaped nostrils. There may also be deformities on the inside, however, which can cause difficulty breathing. Repair if these issues also falls on the plastic surgeon, and may even be covered by insurance. Perhaps a closer look at Los Angeles facial rejuvenation could even help a body breathe a little easier.

Plastic Surgeons Use Cheek Augmentation To Fill Inadequate Cheek Volume

Plastic surgeons have outlined the important beauty differences as a means to quantify, identify, and evaluate the cheeks for a cheek augmentation using cheek implants. If a surgeon were to use the wrong size or shape of cheek implant, it may lead to a gender non-specific alteration of the face. Simply put, the cheek implants could make a male's face appear more feminine and vice-versa. According to a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, Dr. Francis Palmer, the cheeks should only be augmented with cheek implants when the ideal shape of a cheek is not present and the potential patient is over 18 years old. There are many cosmetic surgeons that even prefer to wait until after a potential patient has lost all the "baby fat" still in their face in their 20's. And there are some cosmetic surgeons that believe that other methods including facial liposcultping may be utilized for further accentuation of the cheek area prior to this time.

Plastic Surgeon - San Diego

The decision to pursue cosmetic surgery is a very personal one, and can be daunting. Choosing a doctor to provide your treatment is often every bit as personal and complicated a decision. All the same, there are some tried and true means of making your selection that improve your odds. One suggestion from San Diego cosmetic surgeon Dr. Karam of Carmel Valley Facial Plastic Surgery is to carefully review before-and-after documentation of your potential doctor's past work to determine whether you share his aesthetic taste. Speaking to others who have been treated by the doctor you are considering can give you an excellent indication of what you can expect your own experience to be like. For his own practice where he offers facial rejuvenation in San Diego, Dr. Karam states, "We pride ourselves on our open and honest dialogue with each of our patients and strive to provide every patient with all of the information and options they need to make the most informed and appropriate decision possible to achieve their aesthetic goals."

Could You Benefit From Laser Skin Resurfacing?

I am a big fan of the out-doors and being in the sun a lot and over time the elements have taken a toll on my skin, especially my facial skin. It had gotten so bad that it was difficult for me to look at myself in the mirror. I eventually became so sick of the way I look that I decided I would do something about it and search the internet for something to make my face look better.

While searching the internet I found a site called Keycare.com and on that website I learned about Laser Skin Resurfacing and how "The new CO2 pulse lasers are effective for treating fine wrinkles that occur with aging and exposure to the elements. We are using them for blepharoplasty and facial resurfacing either with or without facelift surgery. The laser also treats the vertical wrinkles that occur in the upper lip area. This new method for Laser Skin Resurfacing takes advantage of the ability of the laser to penetrate the skin to a precise depth. The consistency and degree of penetration affords an even effect over the entire treated area. The superficial skin is shed and new skin regenerates, providing a fresher, smoother appearance."

Soon after I was able to receive one of these procedures and I can say that I am very glad that I decided to do something about the way I look.

There Are Many Cosmetic Surgery Procedures Available For Facial Rejuvenation

I was previously aware that there were a lot of facial rejuvenation plastic surgery procedures out there, I just wasn't aware of how many. I went to find out what some of the procedures were and found a good amount of a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, Dr. Daniel Golshani's website. On his website he goes in depth into each procedure, but I am just going to list them. First off he mentions chemical peels and microdermabrasion. Naming more non-surgical techniques he lists botox, restylane, IPL (Intense Pulse Laser) and laser skin resurfacing. He then goes on to list many surgical techniques. Fat graft facial augmentation, mini facelift, cheek lift, brow lift, MACS facelift, SMAS facelift, neck lift, and bone contouring are just some of them.

Stress, Heredity, And Gravity Can Lead To An Aged Appearance

Everyone ages, and with age comes wrinkles and an aged appearance. Dr. Daniel Golshani, a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, has an answer for this. He first displays examples of, "These visible signs of facial aging, including a loss of skin elasticity and firmness, sagging tissues, wrinkles, and sun-damage, can strongly influence how we feel about ourselves and how others see us." He then explains that these people should seek a rhytidectomy from a cosmetic surgeon. He ends by saying that people who are excited and energetic about their life can appear as though they are sad or tired due to a loss of youthful contours in their face including their jaw line, neck, brow, and eyelids.

Restore a Youthful Vibrancy with a Face Lift

A face lift can help such individuals restore youthful vibrance and energy to the face. The effects of time are virtually undone to restore an individual's face and to remove many of the effects of time and aging. A plastic surgeon accomplishes such effects by working with wrinkles, tightening the skin, removing fat deposits, and by tightening the underlying muscles of the face. This not only helps to restore the physical appearance of the patient, but also restores self-confidence and respect to the patient.

Chin Augmenation Can Help You Achieve Facial Balance

If you consider your chin small, you may benefit from surgery. Having a larger (or "stronger") chin can help balance one's appearance, creating equal weight in the upper, middle, and lower thirds of the face. It can offset the prominence of a large or even medium-sized nose. Enlarging the chin can also make the neck look longer and more graceful, and this can be a helpful addition to a facelift when there is blunting of the angle between lower neck and the under-chin region.

In the medical world, the fat-injection procedure is known as autologous fat transplantation or microlipoinjection. It involves extracting fat cells from the patient's abdomen, thighs, buttocks or elsewhere and reinjecting them beneath the facial skin. Fat is most often used to fill in "sunken" cheeks or laugh lines between the nose and mouth, to correct skin depressions or indentations, to minimize forehead wrinkles and to enhance the lips.

Blepharoplasty: The Surgery

Typically the incisions follow the natural lines of your eyelids; in the creases of your upper lids, and just below the lashes in the lower lids. The eyelid surgery incisions may extend into the crow's feet or laugh lines at the outer corners of your eyes. Working through these incisions, the surgeon separates the skin from underlying fatty tissue and muscle, removes excess fat, and often trims sagging skin and muscle. The incisions are then closed with very fine sutures.

A Chin Implant Can Produce a Dramatic Improvement in Facial Profile and Balance

Cheek implants are inserted through small incisions on the inside of the upper lip, which heal in approximately one week. A relatively minor procedure, cheek implants may be placed using only local anesthesia or with deeper sedation for patient comfort. Most implants are constructed from solid silicone, which adheres to the underlying bone and is very difficult to feel. While rare, complications may include infection or displacement of the implant requiring removal or repositioning. Over the years the art and science of facial contouring with cheek implants has evolved significantly, and there are many different styles and shapes to choose from. A successful outcome requires choosing the right size and shape of implant, and then placing that implant in the right location.

The key to looking natural after surgery is to tighten the underlying muscles of the face without much tension on the skin. The best facelifts do not distort the hairline behind the ears or sideburn in front of the ear. The earlobes should also be left in place without being pulled forward. The surgical incisions should be difficult to detect.

Who is Performing Your Face Lift?

A face lift is a procedure which, unfortunately, can be performed by any physician - whether adequately trained or not. Most states have very little regulation on this matter. Because of this, non-plastic - or so called "cosmetic" - surgeons can perform a face lift as well. In addition, some physicians who are legitimately board certified in other specialties, such as dermatology and gynecology, for example are performing "cosmetic" surgery even though they often have never had any formal residency training in the specialty of plastic surgery itself. Weekend courses abound and the patient is often confused as to which doctor to see.

Non-surgical procedures are also available to minimize fine lines and wrinkles and to maintain a youthful appearance.

Upper Eyelid Surgery Differs From Lower

For the upper eyelid surgery, an incision is made along the natural fold of the eyelid, extending from corner to corner, and excess fat and skin is removed. For the lower lids, the incision may be made right below the lower lash line and excess skin, fat and muscle removed. The underlying muscles may also be tightened by your plastic surgeon.

Facelifts Help you Gain a Firm Jaw Line and a Smooth Chiseled Neck

Do you look in the mirror and wonder "Wow, when did my jaw line and neck start to sag so much? And where did these wrinkles come from?" Do you ask yourself, "I feel 30…why do I look 60?" If so, you are not alone. A majority of patients who come see me have asked themselves the same questions and feel exactly the same way. With time my patients notice they start feeling older because of the way their face has aged. Aging of the lower face and neck is one of the first changes we notice. The firm jaw line and smooth chiseled neck of youth get replaced by sagging jowls and redundant neck skin and fat. The good news is, of all the age-related changes, these are the ones that are the easiest to restore.

Many people are afraid of the facelift because of the downtime, risks, and potential of looking too pulled or unnatural. Many of these considerations apply to traditional and outdated face-lifts. The new generation face-lift is less invasive and refined and allows patients to recover quickly, while achieving excellent natural and lasting results. These procedures can be done without general anesthesia, further decreasing the cost and the risk. As a result of these qualities, these procedures have had extremely high levels of satisfaction.

Facial Rejuvenation Procedures Can Be Performed in Conjunction

Facelifts can be performed alone, or with other cosmetic procedures such as eyelid or forehead surgery. Most are done under twilight anesthesia in an outpatient setting. Depending on the area to be treated, facelifts usually involve incisions made along the hairline, which extend around the ears to the lower scalp. The skin is lifted away from the fat and muscle underneath. The muscle and supporting structures of the face are tightened by the doctor, and excess skin and fat are removed.

A Face Lift Harmonizes Your Facial Structure

When the facial aging process begins to take place and the face is sometimes out of harmony with the eyelids or forehead, some patients become self-conscious. And when patients state that they look older than they truly feel or their friends tell them that they look tired and not well rested, a facelift or a neck lift is performed. The face/neck lift is a very popular procedure done frequently in the United States and it is in the top 1/3 in popularity of all cosmetic procedures performed on the face. The facelift procedure is done for cosmetic reasons, and it is a procedure that is done on the face and neck to rejuvenate the face. This procedure tightens up lax facial skin, neck skin and muscles, jowls, and addresses neck fat as well. It also tightens the muscles in the face, the posterior portion of the neck and the front portion of the neck. Excess skin is removed around the ears and fat is removed underneath the neck.

Lips are One of the Most Youthful Features on the Face

One of the most sexy and youthful features of the face are the lips. Lushes, plump, and full lips are signs of youth, health, and fertility. As we age our lips lose their fullness and volume. The upper lip sags and becomes thinner. Meanwhile, fine wrinkles develop around lips which are called "lipstick lines" or "smoker's lines".
Lip augmentation consists of a variety of procedures designed to give a person a more defined and fuller lips. Besides enlarging the lips, lip fillers or implants are also used to balance the upper and lower lips.

Eyelid Surgery can Make you Look Years Younger

Eyelid surgery can make you look years younger and change one's appearance from a tired, sad and angry look to an alert, rested and peaceful look. The eyelid lift operation is designed to remove excess skin and bagginess around the eye area. The wrinkles around the eyes are etched into the skin and cannot be removed by this procedure. A laser resurfacing procedure may be desired if the patient would like to decrease fine line wrinkles.

The Risks Following Blepharoplasty

When cosmetic eyelid surgery is performed by a qualified plastic surgeon, complications are infrequent and usually minor. But you should always expect risks and discuss with your eyelid surgery plastic surgeon about the pros and cons involved.

1. The minor complications after the surgery include double or blurred vision for a few days.
2. Temporary swelling at the corner of the eyelids.
3. A slight asymmetry in healing or scarring.
4. Tiny whiteheads may appear after your stitches are taken out, which can be removed easily with a very fine needle.
5. Another complication is ectropion, a pulling down of the lower eyelid which requires further surgery.

A Forehead Lift is the Procedure of Choice for Eliminating Signs of Aging

The most obvious signs of age can often be seen in the area just above the eyes. Horizontal wrinkles on the forehead and vertical lines between the eyes can create a fatigued, angry, or sad appearance. At many plastic surgery centers, brow lift is the procedure of choice for people wishing to eliminate these obvious signs of age.

Eyelid Surgery Helps Rid the Feeling of Looking Older

Cosmetic eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty is done to improve the appearance of the upper or lower eyelids. The primary goal of upper eyelid surgery is to remove the excess skin and fat, whereas the goal of lower eyelid surgery is to remove mostly excess fat. The fat in the lower eyelids is a genetic trait and is referred to by many as puffiness. Typically, patients will say that they look older than they feel when they look in the mirror.

Many Facial Expressions Take a Toll On Your Face

A brow lift (a.k.a. a forehead lift, upper face lift) is a procedure utilized to correct a drooping brow and to restore a more youthful look. Laughing, crying, smiling and frowning are common facial expressions that involve the use of the forehead. Because your forehead is always moving, this eventually takes its toll on your skin. Together with aging, the result is eventually drooping eyebrows, forehead lines, and those ubiquitous frown lines. A sagging brow crowds the eyes and makes it appear that one is always frowning or angry. Often, a brow lift alone can correct upper eyelid skin excess that cannot be corrected with an eyelid lift alone. Raising the brows and tightening the upper face "opens up" the eyes, restoring a rested, more youthful look. A brow lift can be performed alone, or in conjunction with a face-neck lift and/or blepharoplasty.

Blepharoplasty Corrects the Appearance of Droopy Eyelids

Blepharoplasty, also called an eyelid lift, is the most common facial plastic procedure performed in my office. The first signs of aging to appear in the mid to late 30's are almost always related to the eyes. Furthermore, psychological studies show that 50 percent of our initial impression of a person is made on the basis of the appearance of the eyes. The eyes tell others if we are sad, happy, angry or tired. Blepharoplasty corrects the appearance of droopy upper eyelids and puffy bags of the lower eyelids, and it produces dramatic and predictable results. It is very common to hear family and friends of eyelid patients compliment them that they look more rested and relaxed. Quite often, even these close acquaintances do not realize that surgery was performed. The recovery is very rapid and you can resume a normal routine in one to two days. The sutures come out in four days, and makeup can be resumed on day five.

A Forehead Lift Gets Rid Of Your Tired Or Sad Appearance

If you desire to minimize your deep forehead creases, furrows and/or frown lines or have drooping or sagging eyebrows that are creating a tired or sad appearance you may be a candidate for a forehead lift. A forehead lift/brow lift will smooth out your forehead, while raising the upper eyelids and reducing frown lines. It is often performed to erase many of the effects associated with aging, leaving you with a smoother, more youthful looking appearance. Younger adults who have a low brow or who already have deep frown lines due to stress or over activity of muscles may benefit from this procedure, as well.

A Rhytidectomy Can Make You Look 10-15 Years Younger

A facelift can be used to treat problem areas around the face such as jowls and hanging skin. The goal is to make you look ten to fifteen years younger without changing your overall appearance. In order to maintain a natural look, some plastic surgeons prefer to use the endoscopic techniques that limit incision size and visibility.
Facelifts are often combined with a brow lift to create better harmony of the facial structures. For the same reason, laser resurfacing is often offered to reduce fine wrinkles around the mouth; a facelift corrects sagging and deep wrinkles.

A Facelift can Erase the Effects of Aging

As people age, the effects of gravity, exposure to the sun, and the stresses of daily life can be seen in their faces. Deep creases form between the nose and mouth; the jawline grows slack and jowly; folds and fat deposits appear around the neck.
A facelift (technically known as rhytidectomy) can't stop this aging process. What it can do is "set back the clock," improving the most visible signs of aging by removing excess fat, tightening underlying muscles, and redraping the skin of your face and neck. A facelift can be done alone, or in conjunction with other procedures such as a forehead lift, eyelid surgery, or nose reshaping.

A Forehead Lift Smooths The Forehead

A forehead lift or "browlift" is a procedure that restores a more youthful, refreshed look to the area above the eyes. The procedure corrects drooping brows and improves the horizontal lines and furrows that can make a person appear angry, sad or tired.
In a forehead lift, the muscles and tissues that cause the furrowing or drooping are removed or altered to smooth the forehead, raise the eyebrows and minimize frown lines. Your surgeon may use the conventional surgical method, in which the incision is hidden just behind the hairline; or it may be performed with the use of an endoscope, a viewing instrument that allows the procedure to be performed with minimal incisions. Both techniques yield similar results -- smoother forehead skin and a more animated appearance.

Blepharoplasty Can Correct Drooping Upper Eyelids

Eyelid surgery (technically called blepharoplasty) is a procedure to remove fat--usually along with excess skin and muscle from the upper and lower eyelids. Eyelid surgery can correct drooping upper lids and puffy bags below your eyes - features that make you look older and more tired than you feel, and may even interfere with your vision. However, it won't remove crow's feet or other wrinkles, eliminate dark circles under your eyes, or lift sagging eyebrows. While it can add an upper eyelid crease to Asian eyes, it will not erase evidence of your ethnic or racial heritage. Blepharoplasty can be done alone, or in conjunction with other facial surgery procedures such as a facelift or browlift.

The Aging Process can Cause Unwanted Changes in Expression

An eyelid lift (eye surgery) otherwise known as blepharoplasty, focuses on the eyes, which occupy a very prominent part of our facial features. It is the surrounding skin, rather than the eyes themselves, that conveys emotion. The tissue, muscle, fat, hair and lashes all contribute to the wide array of expressions. Age, sun exposure and hereditary factors all contribute to wrinkles, deep lines and puffiness around the eyes.
The aging process can cause unwanted changes in expression, causing us to look permanently fatigued and older than we really are. These changes in appearance can cause emotional distress and sometimes even visual impairment. An eyelid lift is designed to restore a more youthful appearance to your eyes. It may involve the upper lids, the lower lids, or both.

Chemical Peel Smooths the Texture of the Facial Skin

Chemical peel uses a chemical solution to improve and smooth the texture of the facial skin by removing its damaged outer layers. It is helpful for those individuals with facial blemishes, wrinkles and uneven skin pigmentation. Phenol, trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and alphahydroxy acids (AHAs) are used for this purpose. The precise formula used may be adjusted to meet each patient's needs. Although chemical peel may be performed in conjunction with a facelift, it is not a substitute for such surgery, nor will it prevent or slow the aging process. Once you and your plastic surgeon have decided on a specific peel program, be sure to ask about any details that you do not understand.

Asian Eyelid Surgery

The exotic look of a surgically revised asian eye has been perfected by some plastic surgeons. The procedure involves creating a pleasing double fold above the single eyelid. This procedure widens the eye into a beautifully shaped almond. Fine sutures leave no significant evidence of surgery.
I had no idea they had a completely different surgery for Asian eyelids. I wonder if it is more difficult than American eyelids. Has anyone had an experience with this that they would like to share?

Soft-tissue fillers, most commonly injectable hyaluronic acid (Restylane) or fat, can help fill in lines and creases, temporarily restoring a smoother, more youthful-looking appearance. When injected beneath the skin, these fillers plump up creased and sunken areas of the face. They can also add fullness to the lips and cheeks. Injectable fillers may be used alone or in conjunction with a resurfacing procedure, such as a laser treatment, or a recontouring procedure, such as a facelift.

Combining a Browlift with a Blepharoplasty

Sometimes your plastic surgeon may recommend that a brow lift be performed in conjunction with a blepharoplasty. The brow lift, which is designed to raise sagging brows, is done through several small incisions in the scalp where scars will be hidden in the hair. By elevating the eyebrows to their former youthful position, less excess skin may need to be removed from the upper eyelids. In fact in many instances, the appearance of excess skin on the upper eyelids is an illusion created by the sagging brows.

The New Paradigm in Facial Rejuvenation

The field of facial rejuvenation has advanced tremendously in the last 20 years. Until recently, when a patient walked into a plastic surgeons office they were offered surgery and nothing else. The surgical approaches were deeply invasive and the recovery took months. Often as a result of overly aggressive surgical approaches to rejuvenate the eyes, forehead, cheeks and neck, patients ended up looking distorted, pulled and un-natural. Unfortunately, many prospective patients today still have a vivid memory of these faces and they think twice about having facial surgery to refresh and rejuvenate their look. Who can blame them?
