Breast Augmentation With The Use Of Saline Implants Leads To Beautiful, Natural, Youthful Breasts

Saline breast implants have been used in the majority of mammoplasty surgeries over the last fifteen years. One of the advantages of saline breast implants is that, if they rupture, the saline solution will be absorbed by the body without fear of any complications. There are additional benefits including the ability for a plastic surgeon to subtly change the volume of the implant within the operating room to accommodate any small differences in the volume of the two breasts. One of the disadvantages of saline breast implants is that they have a higher risk of rippling in breast reconstructive or small-breasted patients. For patients who have very little breast tissue to cover the implants, wrinkling or rippling of the implant may become visible. However, the majority of mammoplasty procedures that are performed today with saline breast implants lead to youthful, beautiful, natural breasts.

Important Decisions Must Be Made By Your Cosmetic Surgeon When It Comes To Breast Implant Surgery

An area that some cosmetic surgeons have an expertise in is primary or secondary mammoplasty. Most of these plastic surgeons perform mammoplasty using all types of implants including saline and silicone. Plastic surgeons have important decisions to make when it comes to breast implants. Breast implants are available in many different shapes, projections, and sizes. The type of breast implant that your cosmetic surgeon chooses should be based on your soft tissue and physical characteristics, as well as the goals that you have for your appearance. Another important thing that these surgeons specialize in is the decision of where to create the pocket and incision for the breast implant.

The Breast Lift

A breast lift (also known as a mastopexy) is a procedure designed to enhance the appearance of breasts.

Many women find that aging, weight loss, or child birth leave them with a loss of tone and volume in the breast area. This leads to sagging and drooping of the breasts. Mastopexy is a surgical option that restores breasts to a more "perky" state.

How is a Breast Lift Performed?

There are several types of breast lift procedures, which are divided into the categories of full and modified breast lifts.

Full breast lifts are the most common, and are known for pleasing, lifting results. This procedure involves a horizontal incision along the bottom of the breasts, an incision around the areola, and a vertical incision that connects the two. Excess skin is removed and the areolas are repositioned to their proper place on the breasts.

Modified breast lifts involve fewer incisions. There are several different types of modified breast lift procedures like breast augmentation.

Commonly known as the "doughnut" method, the most popular modified breast lift involves removing a ring of skin from around the areola. Other modified breast lifts are variations on this technique.

What are the Risks Involved in Having a Breast Lift?

As with any surgery that involves incisions, there will be some scarring. The placement of the incisions helps to reduce their visibility, and most patients find that their scars heal and fade nicely over time. However all people heal and react to surgery differently, so individual results may vary.

Any surgery also comes with the risk of infection. Open wounds like those from surgical incisions always have the potential to become infected if not properly cared for or if the patient has a weak immune system. Severe infections can result in loss of tissue or even death.

Choosing the Right Plastic Surgeon for Your Mastopexy

Asking around for word-of-mouth recommendations is one of the best ways to get honest feedback about surgeons in your area. Inquire with friends and family members to see if anyone has had any experiences good or bad, with any doctors you are considering.

If you visit a family doctor or general practitioner, don't be afraid to as them if there is a surgeon they would recommend. People in different areas of the medical field tend to know each other, and your doctor should be able to offer sound advice.

When having an operation, it is important to find a surgeon that you trust and are comfortable with. Be sure you are personally comfortable with your doctor before committing to the procedure. If you feel uncomfortable at all, do not be afraid to walk away! Contact a plastic surgeon today.

Breast Implants Enhance the Size of your Bust

Breast augmentation is a procedure to enhance the size of your bust by using saline breast implants or silicone breast implants. By inserting breast implants a plastic surgeon can increase a woman's bust line. Advances in breast implant technology and surgical techniques make breast augmentation a popular option among women. The breast implant can be placed either partially under the pectoralis major muscle (submuscular) or on top of the muscle and under the breast glands (subglandular) depending on the thickness of your breast tissue and its ability to adequately cover the breast implant.

Two Types of Breast Implant Placement

When the implant is placed sub muscularly under the breast, there is a lower chance of contracture (contraction of the tissue capsule surrounding the implant), and mammography is more reliable. There is also less risk of visible or palpable implant edges. However, in some cases the implant has a more natural appearance when placed above the muscle, under the breast tissue. A board certified plastic surgeon can help you decide which placement and type of implant will work best.
