Nose Surgery by Dr. Piro

Rhinoplasty, or surgery to reshape the nose, is one of the most common of all plastic surgery procedures. Rhinoplasty can reduce or increase the size of your nose, change the shape of the tip or the bridge, narrow the span of the nostrils, or change the angle between your nose and your upper lip. It may also correct a birth defect or injury, or help relieve some breathing problems.

When rhinoplasty is performed by a qualified plastic surgeon, complications are infrequent and usually minor. Nevertheless, there is always a possibility of complications, including infection, nosebleed, or a reaction to the anesthesia. You can reduce your risks by closely following your surgeon's instructions both before and after surgery.

In the days following surgery, when your face is bruised and swollen, it's easy to forget that you will be looking better. In fact, many patients feel depressed for a while after plastic surgery-it's quite normal and understandable.

Still, healing is a slow and gradual process. Some subtle swelling may be present for months, especially in the tip. The final results of rhinoplasty may not be apparent for a year or more.

Dr. Piro’s Liposuction techniques

Fluid Injection, a technique in which a medicated solution is injected into fatty areas before the fat is removed, is commonly used by plastic surgeons today. The fluid — a mixture of intravenous salt solution, lidocaine (a local anesthetic) and epinephrine (a drug that contracts blood vessels) — helps the fat be removed more easily, reduces blood loss and provides anesthesia during and after surgery. Fluid injection also helps to reduce the amount of bruising after surgery.

Large volumes of fluid — sometimes as much as three times the amount of fat to be removed — are injected in the tumescent technique. Tumescent liposuction, typically performed on patients who need only a local anesthetic, usually takes significantly longer than traditional liposuction (sometimes as long as 4 to 5 hours). However, because the injected fluid contains an adequate amount of anesthetic, additional anesthesia may not be necessary.

The super-wet technique is similar to the tumescent technique, except that lesser amounts of fluid are used. Usually the amount of fluid injected is equal to the amount of fat to be removed. This technique often requires IV sedation or general anesthesia and typically takes one to two hours of surgery time.

Ultrasound-Assisted Lipoplasty (UAL). This technique requires the use of a special cannula that produces ultrasonic energy. As it passes through the areas of fat, the energy explodes the walls of the fat cells, liquefying the fat. The fat is then removed with the traditional liposuction technique.

Facial Surgery in California

A Facelift is designed to lift, smooth, firm and reverse the visible signs of facial aging. By correcting sagging facial skin and muscles, removing excess fat, and restoring firmness, a Facelift can create a more youthful, rested, and vibrant appearance. If the signs of aging on your face bother you, an array of non-surgical and surgical treatments including laser and chemical skin resurfacing, injectables and fillers, contour threadlifts, microfat grafting, mini or "MACS" Cheek and Facelift, or a full "SMAS" Facelift, may be the right choice for you. When appropriately selected and applied, facial plastic surgery combined with adjunct treatments can result in a long-lasting, natural, and youthful look. For a Facelift in Beverly Hills consult Dr. Daniel Golshani.

For many people, the neck is the first area to show signs of aging such as weakened neck muscles that cause the appearance of "bands" around the neck. Frequently performed in conjunction with a Mid-Facelift or facial implants, a Neck Lift can improve an aging neck by significantly reducing the appearance of sagging skin under the jaw.

Over time, many patients feel that their eyebrows begin to look droopy, causing them to look sad, depressed, and even angry. Such droopiness or sagging usually occurs in conjunction with other signs of facial aging. Unfortunately, due to hereditary factors and signs of aging, the eyes may not be able to communicate as effectively as we mature. If your upper or lower eyelids have puffy, dropping, or excess skin that make you appear sad or tired, cosmetic eyelid surgery may be right for you.

In order to remain on the cutting edge of plastic surgery and ensuring safe and exceptional care for his patients, Dr. Daniel Golshani Beverly Hills cosmetic surgeon thoroughly evaluates new techniques before incorporating them into his practice. Dr. Golshani's practice includes the Rexford Surgical Institute (RSI), an AAAHC accredited state-of-the-art surgical facility, and Avosant Beverly Hills, a full-service medi-spa.

Life after weight loss surgery

As a leading expert on face, breast and body contouring for patients who have undergone bariatric surgery or massive weight loss, Dr. Hoefflin performs all varieties of body contouring procedures. Patients can be confident that Dr. Hoefflin is dedicated toward patient care and providing his patients with natural and beautiful results. In patients who have lost massive weight, they are frequently left with inelastic and excessive skin that no longer can conform to their desired shape.

Patients that have lost large amounts of weight, either as a result of bariatric surgery or through diet and exercise demonstrate residual excess skin around their thighs, buttocks, and abdomen. In patients who are primarily concerned about their outer thighs and buttocks, Dr. Hoefflin performs lower body lift procedures to improve their appearance. If patient’s concern extends to their abdomen, then a belt lipectomy may be necessary. The result is a re-contouring of one’s tissues, thus restoring a more youthful and attractive appearance.

In cases where an individual has undergone dramatic weight loss, he or she may be left with loose, sagging skin on the upper arms. This is a common, though unfortunately unattractive side effect of significant weight loss. Brachioplasty, or arm lift, can help improve the appearance of the arms by a careful removal of excess skin beneath the arms and a tightening of the flabby tissue. Dr. Hoefflin’s team has extensive experience helping patients after successful weight loss look and feel better in their skin.

Body Plastic Surgery by Dr. Jeffrey D. Hoefflin

Dr. Hoefflin’s body contouring procedures includes SmartLipo, a revolutionary new method of removing unwanted fat using a laser to liquefy or "melt" the fat away. It is intended for patients who do not have significant amounts of weight to lose, but rather desire sculpting to improve their contour or shape. Smartlipo™ has many advantages over traditional liposuction techniques. Using a carefully calibrated laser, the safe and highly effective method works to tighten or shrink the skin, creating a newly sculpted appearance. It is highly safe and effective, allowing the surgeon to typically remove more fat from a given area with less risk than traditional liposuction.

One of the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures performed today, liposuction (also known as "lipoplasty" or "suction lipectomy") sculpts the body by removing unwanted fat from areas around the abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, upper arms, chin, cheeks and neck. Although not a substitute for dieting or exercise, liposuction is highly effective in removing stubborn areas of fat that do are unresponsive to typical weight-loss methods. The ideal candidates are patients who are physically healthy with firm, elastic skin, and with realistic goals and expectations.

There are individual and gender differences that must be considered when performing either liposuction or abdominoplasty in male patients. During your consultation with Dr. Hoefflin, he will discuss how each procedure can be tailored to meet your individual needs.

Plastic Surgery by Board Certified Plastic Surgeons in El Paso

Most facelifts are done under local anesthesia in an outpatient setting. Depending on the area to be treated, facelifts usually involve incisions made along the hairline, which extend around the ears to the lower scalp. The skin is lifted away from the fat and muscle underneath, and excess fat is removed. The deeper layers are then tightened and the skin is carefully sutured to create a nearly invisible scar.

Board Certified Plastic Surgeons in El Paso can meet your surgical needs.
Laser resurfacing procedures can often be performed at the same time as a facelift or other cosmetic procedures.

Depending on the extent of the work performed, recovery time can range from a few weeks to several months. Swelling and minor discomfort lasts a few days, and stitches are usually removed within a week. Most patients are back to work in 10 to 14 days, and may resume their normal activities in about three weeks.

S-lift (short scar facelift) or mini-facelift is well suited for middle-aged and younger patients to provide tightening of sagging muscles of the cheeks, chin and neck. S-lift can be performed in conjunction with tumescent local anesthesia and may be combined with liposuction of the face and/or neck. This procedure entails a more iminimal incision that the traditional facelift with faster recovery and can be performed in the office on most patients. Consider having your face lift done in El Paso.

Facial rejuvenation can be peformed with a variety of soft tissue facial fillers that add volume to multiple areas of the face.

The announced approval of Radiesse cosmetic dermal filler for the long-lasting correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Radiesse provides volume replacement to wrinkles and folds as well as stimulating the body to produce new collagen in the treatment area.

Juvederm Ultra, recently approved by the FDA, is an injectable hyaluronic acid gel beneficial for smoothing facial wrinkles. Juvederm temporarily adds volume to the skin and gives the appearance of a smoother surface. Dr. Weeks and Dr. Jabor are participants in the protocol study for Juvederm. Consider having your plastic surgery and cosmetic surgery needs taken care of in El Paso.

Plastic Surgery in Detroit - Breast Reconstruction

Detroit breast reconstruction - The American Cancer Society released an estimate that over 190,000 women would be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009 in the United States, and that roughly 40,000 would die of the disease. Women faced with mastectomy, or surgical removal of a breast, as a treatment to prevent tumors from spreading and ending their lives are also presented with a whole host of additional potential woes, physical and emotional, over and above the cancer. The trauma of losing a body part is only part of the story, and can obscure those little unexpected details of daily living that remind her of her loss.

It would be the embodiment of understatement to say that the choice to have breast reconstruction is a highly personal one. Though the list of possible complications can be daunting, the rewards can be significant; not only for the self image, but the quality of life in general for those who choose to undergo the procedure. Detroit plastic surgeon, Dr. Mohamad H. Bazzi, makes breast surgery part of his efforts to "seek a balance between your inner self and a corresponding outward reflection."

Los Angeles, California - Male Breast Reduction

When you think about Los Angeles breast surgery, do you think only of women seeking better proportions to their Male Plastic Surgery figure? While it's true that doctors like Santa Monica's Dr. Steven Teitelbaum do provide women with breast surgery aimed at enlarging, reducing, lifting, reconstructing, addressing asymmetry, and more, doctors also perform breast reduction for men.

Mirriam-Webster Online defines gynecomastia as "excessive development of the breast in the male." Most males will develop gynecomastia to one extent or another at some point in their lives. Many times the condition is brought on by the normal aspects of puberty, and frequently resolves itself. Those cases which do not simply go away are still treatable, however. Dr. Teitelbaum treats women dissatisfied with their breasts, and men can be treated for their "breasts," too. A man might not normally think of himself as a candidate for plastic surgery, but male plastic surgery treats more than over-grown breast tissue. More than just a gynecomastia surgeon, Dr. Teitelbaum may be able to help you with much more.

L.A. - Breast Enhancement

A little time searching the history of prosthetics turns up regular mention of Ambroise Paré as being the father of medical amputation and, incidentally, influential in the field of prosthetics. Examples are cited of "earliest known" prosthetics, and one finds commentary about how little materials or technique have changed over the bulk of history. As with so many arenas of human knowledge, however, prosthetics have really taken off over the last century. Iron, wood, and leather have been replaced by plastics, fiberglass, and other space-age materials. What's all this got to do with breast implants in Los Angeles, you ask?

A prosthesis is defined as an artificial device used to replace a body part or to make a body part work better. Arms and legs might be easily spotted without the use of X-rays, at least at a pool or decathlon, but the term also applies to a much broader range of gear. Ears, eyes, fingers, teeth, and even eyeglasses qualify, and so do devices placed surgically inside the body.

As with external prostheses, breast implants used by Los Angeles plastic surgeon Dr. Marc Mani must conform specifically to the individual patient. Unlike an arm or a leg, breast implants are surgically implanted in a patient's chest, either over or under the underlying pectoral muscle. Because these implants do not technically serve a life-sustaining purpose, the surgery is elective, and so not generally covered by insurance. The decision to have breast augmentation surgery, then, is that much more personal. The benefits of breast augmentation may be less easily defined than that of replacing a leg, but are no less real.

Tummy Tuck in La Jolla

Self improvement has many faces, from selecting a sensible salad instead of a slab-o-steak to turning off the tube and tackling a tome of Tolstoy. Taking time for physical exercise improves not only your health, but improved health improves the way you feel generally. That may be why we seek to improve ourselves; it does make us feel better. What about the things we can't change, however? Some fat deposits, for example, stubbornly refuse to leave their chosen dwelling no matter how well you eat or exercise. Even after you've rid yourself of the fat, excess skin can remain. That's where La Jolla cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Robert Kearney, comes in. Dr. Kearney's San Diego liposuction patients are surgically separated from those obstinate fat deposits, and abdominoplasty can be an effective way to flatten a belly that won't respond to diet and exercise.

Santa Monica Tummy Tuck

Should you be considering a tummy tuck? Honestly, only a qualified surgeon can definitively answer that question. There are some generally applicable details, though, that are useful to know about tummy tucks (also called abdominoplasty). Santa Monica Abdominoplasty

Abdominoplasty is not a weight loss procedure. It can be useful once the weight is lost, but the best tummy tuck candidates are already in relatively good shape and simply have a fat deposit or loose abdominal skin that isn't responding to diet and exercise. The abdominal wall muscles are tightened as part of an abdominoplasty, making the procedure particularly beneficial to women who, through pregnancy, have stretched their bodies beyond its ability to fully recover. This also makes a tummy tuck one of the most "uncomfortable" procedures, usually requiring a hospital stay during recovery. The level of scarring depends on how extensive the procedure is. Incisions are made in inconspicuous real estate, but it's safe to say that if you have skin excised, there will be a scar.

Generally an elective procedure, abdominoplasty shares at least thing in common with all surgery; there is the risk of complication. An honest conversation with your plastic surgeon is an important step toward knowing all you face. Recognized as one of the top aesthetic surgeons in the U.S., Dr. Steven Teitelbaum offers Santa Monica abdominoplasty patients comprehensive care.

Dr. Brar can perform breast augmentation using either general anesthesia or twilight sleep sedation, but often prefers to use twilight sleep to control pain during surgery. A Cosmetic Surgery Procedure Known As Scar Revision Can Minimize A Scar

After healing some people, unfortunately will form scars that are unsightly or that cause any unwanted symptoms such as tightness or pain. The cosmetic surgery or scar revision involves the removal of the offending scar and its replacement with an improved surrounding soft tissue or skin. This is capable of allowing for the scar to become minimized and camouflaged in a much more functional and aesthetic way.

The Appearance Of Scars Will Improve Through Time

A scar is the natural result of the body attempting to heal an open tear or wound in the surface of the body or skin tissues. Every person will form scars, and they are always a result of trauma or surgical incisions that go all the way to the deeper layers of the skin and sometimes even the structures. A scar will in fact result from any type of cosmetic surgery procedure. There is no such thing as a plastic surgery procedure that does not leave a scar, regardless of what is hyped or advertised.

Choosing a Plastic Surgeon - Los Angeles, California

Dad always used to walk right past the express lane at the grocery store. Beverly Hills plastic surgery When asked about it, he'd say, "Would you rather wait for twelve people with one thing or one person with twelve?" Supposedly, there was a lesson in there about not allowing a gimmick to cloud one's vision of the big picture. A corollary might reasonably be drawn from there that certain things, if not delivered satisfactorily, will never be worth being chosen based on price.

Dr. Francis Palmer, a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, makes a similar point regarding the selection of a cosmetic surgeon. Whether you seek breast augmentation, liposuction, a tummy tuck, a face lift, or whatever; it's just better to get it right the first time. Don't be afraid to ask pointed questions, get a bead on a doctor's aesthetic sensibilities, or get a second opinion if you're not sure he is up to the job. After you've found the right surgeon, one can do the job right, you can then focus on lesser matters.

Following A Liposuction Procedure, Most People Have Very Little Pain

Prior to your liposuction procedure, your cosmetic surgeon will carefully outline the areas of bulging fat that are to be suctioned. He or she will then draw detailed contour lines in order to further define the contour and shape characteristics of the deposits of fat. Plastic surgeons will use the "tumescent technique" in which a large amount of fluid will be initially placed to swell the area. This technique allows for fat to be removed in a very safe, smooth, and symmetrical manner. The fluid is capable of helping to loosen the fat while it also provides a local anesthesia for operative and immediate post-operative discomfort. The fluid will also be able to provide epinephrine which is able to decrease bleeding.

Cosmetic Surgeons Perform Rhytidectomy Surgery For Many Reasons

A rhytidectomy procedure will be incapable of stopping this process, but it is capable of "turning back the hands of time." A face lift (technically called a rhytidectomy) was created to reduce many of the heavy folds and wrinkles of a person's neck and face. The surgery will also make the contour of a person's jaw and necklines more aesthetic. However, a rhytidectomy will not be able to completely removed every fold, wrinkle, and line. The amount of improvement that can be made around the eyes and with fine lines of the facial skin is limited. A face lift alone will not be able to improve "smoker's" lines around the mouth, acne scars, or poor complexion. There are other options available to treat these various problems including chemical peels, laser treatment, and dermabrasion.

Performed By A Plastic Surgeon, A Facelift Procedure Turns Back the Hands of Time

A face lift is capable of improving the most visible signs of aging by sculpting and tightening the deeper foundation and structures of the face and neck. When a person ages, the effects of smoking, gravity, sun exposure, heredity, the stresses of daily lift, and weight fluctuations of daily life begin to show themselves in their face. A face lift procedure can bring back youth to an individual's face. In a person's youth, their face is firm and smooth due to proper positioning of normal facial fat and good skin elasticity. When a person ages, skin elasticity and muscle tone will weaken and facial fat will descend and cause prominent skin folds and deep creases between the nose and the corner of the mouth. The jowls of a person become more prominent along with fat deposits and loose skin forming in the neck.

Any Area Of Your Body Can Be Tightened By A Plastic Surgeon With Body Contouring Procedures

Body lift surgery is very similar to a face lift. The only difference with it is that it involves the center of the body. Specifically, a body lift procedure is the surgical contouring of the abdomen, arms, breasts, and thighs in order to remove hanging, excess skin. The plastic surgery procedure itself is created for people that have lost a large amount of weight either through exercise and dieting or through gastric bypass surgery. A significant weight loss will typically leave a person with saggy, unsightly, excessive skin that doesn't conform to their thinner, new figures. Another candidate for a body lift is a person who has excessive, sagging skin as the result of either the normal aging process of pregnancy. As a person ages, their skin will stop producing elastin, collagen, and proteins that are needed to keep tight, tone skin.

Body Lift Surgery Can Be Performed On The Thighs, Breasts, Arms, Abdomen, And Buttocks

Whether your sagging, stretched, or loose skin is because of pregnancy, aging, or loss of weight, a body lift is able to help you get the contours of your body back to normal. It will also provide you with smoother, tighter, younger looking skin. Cosmetic surgeons are capable of performing full body lifts or area specific surgery in the following areas: thighs, arms, abdomen, buttock, and breasts. An important thing to note is that many cosmetic surgeons tailor each body lift to meet the health and aesthetic needs and goals of their patients. If you require further information about a body lift procedure, you should set up a consultation with a plastic surgeon.

After A Cosmetic Chin Surgery, Your Plastic Surgeon Will Give You Care Instructions

After the surgery, the chin will usually be taped in order to minimize swelling and discomfort. Any sutures that have been placed in the skin will be removed after about five to seven days. If the cosmetic surgeon chose for you to have an incision placed in your mouth, the sutures will dissolve over time. While you recover from cosmetic chin surgery you will experience some mild discomfort and swelling in the affected area for several days after the surgery. It's typical that you will experience some difficulty with smiling and talking temporarily. Black and blue marks will be visible around the chin and neck in some cases. Your plastic surgeon will provide you with any instructions that you need about eating, your dental hygiene, and any other restrictions to your activities after the surgery.

Celebrity Lift Offers Quicker Recovery - Beverly Hills, California

Medical science strides forward daily, and the improvements to procedures and outcomes continue to amaze. Just when you get used to the idea that your facial skin Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon and muscles can be tightened for a more youthful appearance, they find a way to cut down the recovery time for your facelift. According to Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, Doctor Francis Palmer, "when the proper facial aesthetics are followed, the incisions [and] the tissue dissection can be limited which in turn means there will be smaller scars, less bruising and swelling and a shorter recovery time. This is the idea behind the creation of our 'Celebrity Lift™' that can make you look 10 years younger in less than 90 minutes with a recovery time that’s measured in hours, not weeks." The key, says Dr. Palmer, "is addressing the central portion of the face, the cheeks. The nasolabial folds are reduced and the cheeks are properly shaped using cheek implants or fillers like Radiesse or Perlane."

Certainly this should appeal to socialites, celebrities, business persons; really, to anyone who wants to look younger and doesn't have the luxury of spending a month or two out of sight while recovering. An added benefit Dr. Palmer points out is that, given reduced tissue dissection, "smokers and those with a long history of smoking may still be a candidate for this powerful, yet minimal incision facelift and necklift."

Used In Breast Reconstruction, Silicone Breast Implants Have A Natural Look And Feel

The silicone breast implants (also approved for general use) that plastic surgeons use today have a somewhat thicker shell than the implants that were used before 1992. The implants are also filled with a thicker gel made of silicone than the past implants. These The breast implants will come pre-filled with silicone in various sizes and will also be securely sealed so that there is a very small chance of them leaking. When someone mentions silicone with an "e" at the end, they are referring to a group of chemical compounds that vary in thickness from liquid, to gels, to a rubbery consistency. Along with many other things, they contain silicon (no "e") which is an element, just like nitrogen, carbon, and iron. Silicon is the second most common element on Earth after oxygen, of course. When silicon is mixed with oxygen, it forms silica which is the most common substance on Earth. A typical person would know silica in several different forms such as sand, quartz, and crystals. Silicone is used in many everyday items including lotion, processed foods, soaps, hairspray, and chewing gum.

Your Cosmetic Surgeon Will Make Sure That Your Facelift Procedure Is Individualized For You

A face lift procedure is very individualized. During your consultation with your cosmetic surgeon, he or she will evaluate your face. This will include the underlying bone and skin. Your doctor will then discuss with you your goals for the surgery. He or she will then review your medical history and check you for any conditions that could possibly cause problems during or after the procedure. Some of these conditions are the tendency to form excessive scars, blood clotting problems, and uncontrolled high blood pressure. You must be sure to inform your surgeon of all the vitamins, herbs, and medications that you are taking. If you smoke, your plastic surgeon will counsel you on the increased risks that are associated with smoking on healing and he or she will need to wait at least two months after you have stopped smoking to perform the procedure.

A Plastic Surgeon Can Reverse The Effects Of Gravity On Your Face With Facelift Surgery

A face lift, technically called a rhytidectomy, is a cosmetic surgery procedure that is capable of "setting the clock back" on your face and neck. As any person ages, the exposure to the sun, the effects of gravity, and the stresses of daily life can be seen within their face. Deep creases form between the nose and mouth, the jawline grows jowly and slack, and folds and fat deposits appear around the neck. A rhytidectomy is able to improve the most visible signs of aging successfully by re-draping the skin of your face and neck, removing excess fat, and tightening the underlying muscles.

A Garment For Compression Will Be Recommended By Your Cosmetic Surgeon After Suction Lipectomy

After liposuction surgery, the patient will be able to go home with a compression garment that covers the areas that have been treated. Compression placed on the areas where liposuction has been performed will be recommended for about a month because it will help reduce swelling after the surgery. After the pain and soreness have decreases, it will be more comfortable to wear lycra or spandex exercise pants. Initial discomfort after the liposuction surgery can easily be controlled with oral medication. Bruising and swelling usually subside after two to four week and the final results of the procedure will be noticeable after around two or three months.

UAL Performed By A Cosmetic Surgeon Allows For A Safer Removal Of Fat

The use of UAL by plastic surgeons allows for a safer removal of larger amounts of fat than that of a standard liposuction procedure. This increase in safety is accredited to the smaller amount of blood that needs to be removed with UAL. This means that UAL surgery can be extremely useful to someone who is only somewhat overweight even though the procedure is not meant for weight loss. Ultrasound assisted liposuction was created to improve the proportions and contour of the treated areas, resulting in a more flattering figure or physique.

Commonly Involved Areas Of Liposuction Include Thighs, Abdomen, Waist, Upper Arms, And Trunk

You are likely a good candidate for liposuction surgery if you have an excess amount of subcutaneous fat, which is resistant to diet and exercise. Liposuction surgery could also be something that you desire if you are wanting to change the contours of your body. The most common areas on the body that liposuction is performed on are the armpits and upper arms, male breast/chest, the anterior part of the neck, thighs, waist, hips, ankles, calves, and trunk. Most of the people who receive liposuction surgery are at or near their body size's normal wright and desire a permanent change in the contour of their body.

Consider Breast Revision - Utah

Breast Revision - Utah - Breast implants can revive breast volume lost to time and gravity, create the bustline nature never granted, Breast Enlargement Utahcorrect asymmetry, and even restore breasts lost to illness or injury. Surgical procedures can go awry, however, and though complications are rare for breast implant surgery, they can happen. When a previous breast augmentation creates a cosmetic problem or poses a health risk, it generally means removal or replacement of the implant. Some of the more common complications to breast enlargement are capsular contracture, nipple sensitivity (or the loss thereof), rippling, and rupture.

Complications are not the only reason for revision surgery, of course. Most implants are only designed to last 10 years, so revision surgery becomes necessary. Many women find, too, that after their surgery they simply wish they had gotten larger implants. For more information on Utah plastic surgery, see Dr. Joseph Berg.

You Can Improve Your Sun-Damaged Skin With Laser Treatments

Currently, there are many lasers used for facial and skin rejuvenation and to treat sun damage and photo-aging of the skin. One older laser system, the carbon dioxide laser, has been very effective for treating sun damaged skin but has fallen out of favor. This is because it routinely caused extensive rawness of the skin that typically required over 2 weeks of “hiding out” or “downtime” to recover. In addition to the time it took to heal, it frequently caused skin discoloration and occasionally scarring. Many lasers available today require very little downtime and yield some improvement of the skin but are not nearly as effective as the carbon dioxide laser. As with any procedure, anyone considering laser skin treatments should first consult with a plastic surgeon prior to under going their chosen procedure.

Rhinoplasty Surgery: What Makes A Good Candidate For This Procedure?

The best candidates for rhinoplasty, more commonly known as nose surgery, have a nose that is unattractive or does not "fit" with other facial features. Deformities, breathing problems, birth defects injury, disease and noses that seem large in comparison to other facial features are all excellent indications that rhinoplasty surgery can help. Nose reshaping is intended to produce a more attractive nose shape and/or create better proportion to other facial features. Rhinoplasty surgery is usually done on an outpatient basis under sedation, and local or general anesthesia. During your consultation, your plastic surgeon will decide which rhinoplasty techniques will be used.

There are three types of nose surgery procedure techniques:

In a standard rhinoplasty procedure, the incisions are made inside the nostrils. The nasal bones, cartilage, and soft tissues are all reshaped to improve the external contour. With an open rhinoplasty procedure, which is frequently used for difficult or larger noses, a single external incision across the the part of the nose referred to as columella or the strut between the nostrils. In an open rhinoplasty procedure, the bones, cartilage, and soft tissues are reshaped under direct vision as opposed to a standard rhinoplasty procedure where the bone and soft tissues are reshaped through the small incisions inside the nostrils. Finally, a 'Tip-Plasty" technique is used when only the nasal tip is abnormal. This may be corrected with either a standard or external (open) approach to the surgery. Large nostrils can be reshaped and made smaller through tiny incisions at the outer base of the nostrils with either type of rhinoplasty surgery procedure..

Sagging Or Extremely Large Breasts Can Be Fixed Through The Cosmetic Surgery Procedure Breast Reduction

Most women who have sagging or extremely large breasts can be both physically and emotionally uncomfortable. According to Dr. Placik, a Chicago plastic surgeon, these women are likely to suffer from neck and back pain, irritation under their breasts, and soreness where the straps of their bra cut into their shoulders. Also, these women could be very self-conscious about the size of their breasts. Another problem that these woman may suffer from is an inability to find attractive, properly fitting clothing; sometimes it will be required that they buy costly custom made clothing and support garments. For these women, a breast reduction may be necessary.

West Palm Beach Breast Reduction

Incisions for a breast reduction are placed around the woman's areola in an effort to slide it into the proper position followed by the removal of extra sagging skin and breast tissue. Sometimes the incision may be limited to just around the areola. Other times it may involve an incision in the shape of an upside down T or anchor extending from the areola down the center portion of the breast and then into the inframammary fold. According to Dr. Pinsky, a West Palm Beach plastic surgeon, the amount of incisions are determined by the amount of lifting that is required.

Breast Lift Surgery Is Used By Cosmetic Surgeons To Raise And Reshape A Woman's Breasts

Breast lift surgery restores a more youthful appearance to a woman's breasts. Over years breasts can lose their shape and firmness due to weight changes, pregnancy, and nursing with loss of skin elasticity causing them to sag. A mastopexy or breast lift, will raise and reshape the breasts slowing the effects of aging and gravity. The procedure is also able to reduce the size of a woman's areola, which is the darker pigmented skin around the nipple. According to a West Palm Beach plastic surgeon, breast lift procedures are commonly performed in conjunction with a mammoplasty to increase breast fullness, firmness, and size. This would likely appeal to a woman who has lost breast volume after a pregnancy.

Breast Augmentation Offered By West Palm Beach Cosmetic Surgeon

Augmentation Mammoplasty is a surgical procedure used to enhance the shape and size of a woman's breasts. Some candidates may feel that their breast size is too small. Dr. Pinsky, a West Palm Beach plastic surgeon says, the procedure is also used for women following a pregnancy to restore volume to their breasts. Breast augmentation can also be performed to correct for differences in a woman's right and left breast size. There are sometimes patients that have different surgical goals, for example some women will want a more natural breast shape that is in proportion to their figure. Others prefer a more rounded shape in the upper pole of their breast somewhat larger than their proportionate figure. These goals are able to be achieved by using smaller or larger saline breast implants, and also by adjusting the fill volume for each individual implant. In the breast augmentation procedure, short incisions are placed in the inframammary fold, around the lower portion of the areola (pigmented portion of the nipple) or through the axilla.

If You Have Fatty Areas That Don't Respond To Diet Or Exercise, Lipoplasty Is For You

Liposuction may be a great option for you if you have fatty areas that do not respond to diet or exercise. Liposuction is not a cellulite treatment or weight-loss procedure and those who are in good shape yet struggle with "problem" areas are the best candidates. The procedure slims and contours different areas of the body by removing the excess fat. The liposuction procedure doesn't treat sagging or loose skin. There are some cases where liposuction will be performed, but in other cases it will be used with procedures such as a breast lift/reduction or an abdominoplasty which can reduce sagging skin. According to Tacoma plastic surgeon, Dr. Nichols, when liposuction is combined with other surgeries it can be one of the many procedures used in a Mommy Makeover.

A Word About Abdominoplasty in Utah

Abdominoplasty in Utah - A tummy tuck operation involves making an incision that falls along the natural creases of the lower abdomen, usually correlating with the bikini line. The skin is then lifted away from the abdomen, creating a flap. Depending on the patient's unique situation, the navel may be moved, fat may be suctioned away, and excess skin is excised, or cut away. Scarring is minimized as much as possible by the incision's being located in a natural crease, and by the application of vitamins and adhesives, but a scar is to be expected whenever there is an incision.

Utah cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Kimball Crofts, reminds patients that planned future pregnancies and certain medical conditions can make an abdominoplasty unsafe. The best way to know for sure if you are a good candidate for this procedure is in a personal consultation with your plastic surgeon.

Breast Reconstruction Is Often Chosen By Woman Who Go Through Breast Cancer

Any woman facing mastectomy also faces another difficult decision, the desire for and timing of reconstructive breast surgery. While the procedure is able to be performed many years after the mastectomy, recent advances encourage that women undergo simultaneous removal and reconstruction. Simultaneous breast reconstruction offers several distinct emotional advantages: the avoidance of a non-reconstructed breast, a reduced period of postoperative discouragement in appearance, the avoidance of potentially unnatural appearing breast implants, and an improved sense of self-confidence and self-esteem. According to Dr. Hoefflin, a Los Angeles plastic surgeon, having this surgery performed at the same time will also offer several advantages: greater symmetry in shape and volume, the avoidance of another major general anesthetic procedure, and preservation of native breast skin on the reconstructed breast.

Body Contouring Techniques in Southern California

You eat the right things. You don't eat the wrong things, you exercise regularly, and you get the right amount of sleep. These are all supposed to help you have the body shape you want. The trouble is that bodies don't always listen to the experts. Happily, there are methods of body contouring available to us when fat deposits and loose skin don't take "get lost" for an answer.

Plastic surgeons such as Palm Desert, California's Dr. Habash use liposuction techniques to specially target those fat deposits that are resistant to diet and exercise, such as those around the hips, thighs, and neck. Loose skin, like that empty roll hanging from the abdomen, must be cut away, but the scar is usually well hidden by most clothing. To find out if a tummy tuck in Palm Desert is right for you, you'll want to arrange a consultation with Dr. Habash.

Types Of Gynecomastia Risks - Patients - Recovery

There are many gynecomastia patients who are men that never lost the extra bit of puffiness they had on their chest while going through puberty. According to Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, Dr. Steven Teitelbaum who performs male breast reduction in Beverly Hills, these people cannot see the outline of their pecs no matter what they do, even if they are fit or work out. Other men that may have this problem may be a result of steroid use for weight lifting. These steroids are capable of causing rapid growth of breast tissue. For men with gynecomastia that work out, they can typically feel a "walnut" or "marble." There are many other men that suffer from "woman-like breasts" as a side-effect from various recreational or prescription drugs.

Plastic Surgeon - San Diego

The decision to pursue cosmetic surgery is a very personal one, and can be daunting. Choosing a doctor to provide your treatment is often every bit as personal and complicated a decision. All the same, there are some tried and true means of making your selection that improve your odds. One suggestion from San Diego cosmetic surgeon Dr. Karam of Carmel Valley Facial Plastic Surgery is to carefully review before-and-after documentation of your potential doctor's past work to determine whether you share his aesthetic taste. Restore A Feeling Of Masculinity With Male Breast Reduction

Like starting to shave, the lowering of one's voice, or developing an Adam's Apple, a flat and strong looking chest is seen as a sign of masculinity. It is humiliating to have a chest that looks even the slightest bit feminine. Many women seek breast augmentation because they say, "I look like a boy and just want to feel feminine." Men will likely never make the opposite statement - likely because the words may be too hard to say - it is probably in the back of their minds. Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, Dr. Steven Teietelbaum, performs male breast reduction at his Beverly Hills male breast reduction surgery center. Even though some flat-chested women are very shy about men seeing their naked chest, they usually don't have the same amount of shame and humiliation as men do with feminine-like breasts. It's definitely common that men even with the mildest forms of gynecomastia will never want to take off their shirt, will wear loose clothing over a tight undershirt, and will likely spend time in front of a mirror seeing how they would look with a more masculine chest.

Remove the "Dimpled" Cellulite Look on your Thighs with a Thigh Lift

Are you self-conscious about the way your thighs look? Is there excessive, loose skin that hangs or shakes when you walk? A thigh lift is a popular choice for those looking for sleeker, tighter legs. Imagine being able to wear shorts again!

A thigh lift has many benefits. The goals of the thigh lift is to remove the "dimpled" cellulite look on your thighs, and reduce excess skin of the inner and outer thigh areas.

Depending upon your health and desired results, a thigh lift is often times most successful when combined with another procedure. If there are large amounts of excess tissue in your thighs, liposuction can also be performed for better results to sculpt your upper legs. Likewise, thighs and buttocks are often in the same condition and performing a buttocks lift may help to achieve your goals.

The thigh lift is an outpatient procedure that requires minimal anesthesia. Recovery usually takes between one and two weeks before painless and unrestricted movement returns. Incisions are usually hidden in the crease of the groin, and therefore adequate rest is necessary to speed recovery and decrease scarring.

Liposuction Removes Stubborn Fat

During the past decade, liposuction, which is also known as "lipoplasty" or "suction lipectomy," has benefited from several new refinements. Today, a number of new techniques, including ultrasound-assisted lipoplasty (UAL), and the tumescent technique, are helping many plastic surgeons to provide selected patients with more precise results and quicker recovery times. Although no type of liposuction is a substitute for dieting and exercise, liposuction can remove stubborn areas of fat that don't respond to traditional weight-loss methods.

Hand Rejuvenation Hides the Signs of Aging

Human hands are highly visible. We extend our hands as a gesture of friendliness in order to form new friendships and acquaintances. Others can tell a lot by looking at our hands. For instance, the age of the individual can be estimated when looking at someone’s hand and while many people have cosmetic surgery to make their face look younger, their hands reveal their true age. With the hands looking years older than the facial features an obvious tell-tale sign that someone has had facial rejuvenation will be noticed by the average individual. For those who are concerned about the appearance of their hands, there are steps that can help prevent and more importantly reverse the signs of aging.

Remove Localized Fat Deposits with Liposuction

Liposuction can remove localized fat deposits from almost any area of the body. Many plastic surgeons use an "ultrasonic" technique, during which sound waves liquefy fat cells before liposuction begins. This allows the elimination of more tissue, especially in difficult to treat areas such as "love handles" and the upper abdomen. Ultrasound breaks up fibrous tissue in the fat, and gives smoother results than with other types of liposuction.
By injecting saline, anesthetic solution and epinephrine during liposuction ("tumescent" liposuction), bruising is minimized. Incisions for liposuction are small and easily hidden.

Liposuction: The Procedure

Many plastic surgeons use a "tumescent technique." After the induction of general anesthesia or intravenous sedation, a large volume, up to several quarts, of very dilute local anesthetic is injected into the areas to be treated. There is a tiny dose of adrenaline in the fluid as well, which makes the blood vessels in the area clamp down. This prevents perhaps 95% of the blood loss that would otherwise occur during liposuction.
Thin hollow stainless steel tubes are placed through short (perhaps 1/4") incisions in the area treated and are used to suction away the appropriate amount of fat. Sheets of lightweight foam are placed on the treated areas, and a compression garment, like a corset, is placed. Bruising is usually scant.

Breast Reconstruction: A Rewarding Surgical Procedure

Breast reconstruction is one of the most rewarding surgical procedures performed by plastic surgeons. There are several different procedures which can be used to create the form and shape of a breast, which will closely approximate the opposite side. They will establish a more normal appearance and, more importantly, allow you to regain your self esteem. Today, breast reconstruction is usually initiated at the time of mastectomy. It may involve the creation of a breast mound entirely using your own tissue (TRAM flap) or it may involve using a tissue expander, which is a balloon placed temporarily under the chest muscle. This balloon is expanded or stretched as it is filled with saline. This stretches the skin slowly to create a pocket large enough to accommodate a permanent implant.

Get Rid of Stubborn Fat with Liposuction

While plastic surgeons encourage approaching liposuction from a state of good health, diet and exercise, they can effectively remove stubborn areas of fat that won't respond in any other way. Through a very tiny incision, which can be concealed, a plastic surgeon will place a tube deep beneath the skin. With a combination of ultrasound energy and suction, a plastic surgeon can remove and sculpt fatty layers. The liposuction they perform is usually circumferential which will tailor the area front to back and avoid any irregularities. Afterwards a compression garment or girdle will help control swelling and provide comfort while the skin shrinks and the bruising resolves.

Reasons People Decide to Have Nasal Surgery

The nose is the most prominent feature of our face. Its size and shape influence our entire facial appearance. A well-shaped nose appears balanced and in harmony with all of a person’s facial features. When the nose is too large or too small for the face it will seem out of balance or asymmetric. Even if the nose is properly sized, but the individual parts of the nose are not well proportioned to one another, then the nose will appear out of sync with the rest of the face. These problems can be due to trauma, genetics, or previous surgery. A well-balanced, proportionate and harmonious nose is essential for a beautiful or handsome appearance and it is for this reason that so many people seek to change and improve the shape of their nose.

Redefine Your Neck with a Neck Lift

A neck lift is usually part of a facelift but may be performed alone. The repair of the playsma muscles helps redefine the neck. Neck-lift procedures reposition and tighten skin that, through aging, has begun to sag.
Neck-lift procedures cannot eliminate all signs of aging. Although this procedure provides a more youthful appearance, the results usually decrease with time. Both genetic and environmental influences cause the face to show further signs of aging.

Gynecomastia is Actually Quite Common

Gynecomastia is a medical term that comes from the Greek words for "women-like breasts." Gynecomastia or male breast reduction is actually quite common and may affect only one breast or both. There is no known cause in the vast majority of cases, and surgery is the only known physical remedy. In cases of obesity, weight loss can alter the gynecomastia condition, but for many it will not eliminate it.

The Aging Forehead

All those years of raising your eyebrows in astonishment, scrunching your brows together in a scowl or just the constant assault of gravity have taken a toll on your forehead. The indelible wrinkles and the drooping brows have become noticeable. This highlights that there are essentially two components to the aging forehead; the skin changes resulting in wrinkles and the change in position of the eyebrows.

Liposuction Eliminates Hard To Get Rid Of Fat

Liposuction (lipoplasty) is particularly well-suited for women and men who are of relatively normal weight but have isolated pockets of fat that cause certain areas of their body to appear disproportionate. Revive Your Youthful Look with Eyelid Surgery

Blepharoplasty, also called an eyelid lift, is the most common facial plastic procedure performed at the Cosmetic Plastic Surgery Center Of San Diego. The first signs of aging to appear in the mid to late 30's are almost always related to the eyes. Furthermore, psychological studies show that 50 percent of our initial impression of a person is made on the basis of the appearance of the eyes.

Procedures of the Body: Liposuction

Liposuction can remove localized fat deposits from almost any area of the body. Board Certified Plastic Surgeons use an "ultrasonic" technique, during which sound waves liquefy fat cells before liposuction begins. This allows the elimination of more tissue, especially in difficult to treat areas such as "love handles" and the upper abdomen. Ultrasound breaks up fibrous tissue in the fat, and gives smoother results than with other types of liposuction.

Preparing For Your Tummy Tuck

Your surgeon will give you specific instructions on how to prepare for your surgery, including guidelines on eating and drinking, smoking, and taking or avoiding certain vitamins, and medications.
If you smoke, plan to quit at least one to two weeks before your surgery and not to resume for at least two weeks after your surgery. Avoid overexposure to the sun before surgery, especially to your abdomen, and do not go on a stringent diet, as both can inhibit your ability to heal. If you develop a cold or infection of any kind, your surgery will probably be postponed.
Whether your surgery is done on an outpatient or inpatient basis, you should arrange for someone to drive you home after your surgery, and to help you out for a day or two after you leave the hospital, if needed.

A tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, is surgery to remove excess fat and skin from the abdomen. Abdominal muscles that have been weakened or separated can also be corrected with a tummy tuck. The most common causes of loose or sagging skin on the stomach are heredity, multiple pregnancies, prior surgery and significant fluctuations in weight. This procedure is common among patients who have undergone gastric bypass surgery and have excess abdominal skin.

Did you know that an abdominoplasty can be combined with liposuction to help achieve optimal body contouring results?

Drastically Reduce the Signs of Aging

Eyelid surgery is a procedure to correct drooping of the upper eyelids and puffy bags and wrinkles around the lower eyelids. With age, the muscles around the eyes weaken and the skin becomes increasingly loose and puffy, which can cause patients to look older and more tired than they actually feel. Eyelid surgery helps restore a youthful appearance by removing or redraping excess fat, muscle and skin from the upper and lower eyelids. Either alone or combined with other facial rejuvenation procedures, eyelid surgery can drastically reduce the signs of aging.

The Desire For More Natural-Looking Ears

Most patients, young and old alike, are thrilled with the results of ear surgery. But keep in mind, the goal is improvement, not perfection. Don't expect both ears to match perfectly-perfect symmetry is both unlikely and unnatural in ears. If you've discussed the procedure and your expectations with the plastic surgeon before the operation, chances are, you'll be quite pleased with the result.

When considering corrective ear surgery make sure to consult a board certified plastic surgeon.

Major Problems that Affect the Eyelids and a Solution, Blepharoplasty

There are essentially two major problems that affect the eyelids. One is the build up of excess fat behind the eyelids, especially in the lower eyelids. This pushes outward on the eyelid causing a bulge or “bag” to develop. Light, which most often comes from above us, will shine on the bulge and cause a shadow to form under the lid. This gives the appearance of dark circles and the tired-look.

The second major problem affecting eyelids is wrinkling of the skin. This is due to a loss of the skin’s natural elastic properties, which can be as a result of the aging process, sun damage and cigarette smoking. The excess skin can become redundant and hang down, especially on the upper lids, adding to that tired or aged appearance. Excessive drooping of the upper eyelids can even obstruct vision.

Surgical treatment, called a Blepharoplasty, is directed at each of these problems. A Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon has been a pioneer in developing a remarkable method of Blepharoplasty, which employs the use of the laser. This ultra skilled approach represents a blend of the highest level of safety with the best aesthetic results.

Breast Lift (Mastopexy): The Cure For Sagging Breasts

A breast lift, technically called a mastopexy, is a surgical procedure which can help to restore a more youthful and natural shape to sagging breasts. Gravity, pregnancy, nursing, weight gain, loss of skin elasticity, and aging, can all lead to sagging and a loss of firmness. A breast lift removes excess skin and tissue to reshape and firm the breasts, and it almost always involves repositioning the nipple-areola complex higher on the breast mound. A Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in California can help you get the breast lift you want.

I think it is great to have a surgery that restores self-esteem and confidence into older woman and mothers. The aftermath of pregnancy can be crushing to some women, especially when younger. Has anyone had an experience with a mastopexy?

Arizona Browlift Turns Back Your Clock

A browlift is a procedure that renews a more youthful, rejuvenated appearance above the eyes. Often the drooping brows, horizontal lines, and furrows can cause a person to appear angry, sad, and tired. People develop the creases and frown lines due to aging, stress, and/or muscle activity. In a browlift, the muscles and tissues that cause the furrowing or drooping are removed or altered to smooth the forehead, raise the eyebrows and minimize frown lines.

An Arizona Board Certified Plastic Surgeon can best help you get the browlift you desire.

I find forehead lifts very successful in turning back one's clock. They really make a person look younger. Has anyone had this done before?

Two Different Types of Breast Implants: Saline vs. Silicone

Breast Augmentation uses breast implants which are either filled with a saline solution or silicone gel. Saline implants are most commonly used as the use of silicone implants has been restricted. This is because the rupture of a silicone implant may release the silicone material into the body's tissues which is a significant health concern. If saline implants rupture, the saline solution is harmlessly reabsorbed into the body and the implant can be replaced.

A Long Beach Board Certified Plastic Surgeon can help you to achieve your goals.

I know breast augmentation is a very common performed plastic surgery procedure, but I didn't know there were different types of implants. Did anyone else not know?

Abdominoplasty does not involve entering the abdomen itself, only more superficial areas of the body. The incisions for this procedure extend from just below the pubic line to the belly button.
